Voiceover Basics for Bookings with Scott Burns SPRING Class 2026

    February 7 - March 14, 2026

Learn essential auditioning techniques to boost your booking potential!

Throughout this six week, 2-hour Saturday morning class, Scott will provide insights on how to best connect with voice buyers based on his 30+ years as both voice  actor and commercial producer with his 'other the other side of the glass' perspective.  You’ll gain methodologies to achieve conversational vs ‘announcery’ reads as well as discover voices you never even knew you had!  Scott also shares his audio production techniques for effective audition submissions, some considered unconventional but proved successful to book work for Miller Lite, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, K-Mart/Sears and more.

Narration genres including Documentary, Corporate, E-learning, Tutorials, Nature, Tours and more are also parsed and analysed throughout the course along with the ever popular development of characters for Animation in features and games.  Scott's resume for Narration work includes the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Microsoft, UW Computer Sciences, Mazda, IBM, and Holland America.  His Character voice work for interactive games boasts titles for Bungie, Humongous Entertainment and Nintendo, where he provided the first ever english speaking "Bowser" in the Super Mario Sunshine game.

To further enhance your auditioning experiences, during the week you'll be assigned fake (or faux) auditions throughout the course of the class to center on auditioning protocols pertaining to file naming, slating, following spec guidelines, audio quality protocols and more.  This is to assure your audition won’t end up in the trash before even being presented to the client.  (It happens!)

NOTE: These “Fauxditions” homework assignments will require some form of recording capability. If you don’t have any recording gear yet, it will be acceptable to record using your smartphone device.  Participation in the "Fauxdition" exercise is key to this class for the group learning element, so please be able to record and attach mp3 files to your email before considering signing up!
